Making Syrah from the relatively cool Petaluma Gap is all about respecting the dark blueberry and grilled steak components and balancing that with the tannins that are inherent in a cold, wind-swept climate.  Everything from destemming or crushing the fruit to yeast selection to punchdown intervals to fermentation temperature to barrel selection, stirring, and aging time all affects the end result and needs to be in balance to create the most expressive wine possible from our hometown. 90+ Points, Robert Parker
