2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III

Tasting Notes: This Beckstoffer Cabernet grabs your attention with inviting aromas of ripe plum, dark chocolate, and cinnamon. Tannins are velvet smooth and firmly frame the densely fruited, plush mouthfeel. The spicy finish lingers with notes of dark chocolate, fresh ground coffee, black fig and licorice.  

Varietal composition: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon

Barrel composition: 100% New French oak

Wine Spectator – November 2020 A rich, ripe and layered wine, with velvety flavors of steeped currant, plum and spice that fan out nicely, while racier apple wood, bramble and iron notes course underneath. The finish is still packed together, showing details of sassafras and licorice root peeking out. Will need some time to unfurl fully. Best from 2022 through 2038. 800 cases made. – J.M.
