2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Lichau Hill Vineyard
Scores
91 points - Jeb Dunnuck
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Lichau Hill Vineyard is a bit reserved aromatically with cassis, scorched earth, and a hint of graphite. Full-bodied, it has sweet tannins and ripe fruit throughout. Attractive, juicy, and approachable, it's a solid Cab to drink over the next few years.
Tasting Notes
Dark cherry and wild fennel aromas come shooting out of the glass. A great combination of earthy, savory, and fruity, this Cabernet showcases smooth and plush mouthfeel from fermentation time in oak barrels. Baking spices like clove and cinnamon fill in details on the complex finish.
Winemaking Notes
This is our inaugural vintage from Lichau Hill Vineyard and we are proud to share it with you! Our dear partners Roger and Hsiomei grow fantastic fruit high above the fog line on Sonoma Mountain. Usually the Petaluma Gap is known for cool climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, but the elevation, exposure, and resulting ripeness of this Cabernet really showcases the versatility of the area. These grapes were destemmed directly to new French oak barrels and fermented in barrel to help soften the tannins and more fully integrate flavors and aromas.
