2018 Petit Verdot Bavarian Lion Vineyard
Tasting Notes
Inky-black in color, this wine has expressive aromas of dark berries with slight floral notes. Flavors of melted blackberries, star anise, and savory elements compliment the smooth tannins and barrel spice that last through the long finish.
This Petit Verdot is balanced and complex enough to sip on its own. And it is a perfect pairing with grilled meats, hearty mushrooms, and your favorite red sauce.
Winemaker's Notes
Bavarian Lion Vineyard is tucked away in northern Sonoma County. This small appellation is known for its warm climate and ancient rocky soils, perfect for growing incredible Bordeaux style grapes. We source a tiny amount of Petit Verdot from the vineyard. This wine is not offered every vintage, but in special years we like to reserve a couple of barrels for a single varietal bottling.
The Vintage
2018 was one of those years; the weather was perfect and the wine was extremely balanced and expressive. This wine was cellared in our best French oak barrels for 24 months.
