2021 Cabernet Franc Bavarian Lion Vineyard

Winemaker's Notes
The Bavarian Lion Vineyard is tucked away in north eastern Sonoma County, almost a stones-throw away from Calistoga in Napa Valley. This small appellation is known for its warm climate and ancient rocky soils, perfect for our Cabernet Franc. Stressful growing conditions lead to smaller, more intensely flavored and colored fruit.

Making this wine is all about respecting the time it takes to get it perfectly ripe, which is a long time with Franc from this vineyard! In the cellar, a careful selection of oak barrels were used to lift the aromatics, enhance the mouthfeel, and support tannin development.

Vintage
The 2021 vintage was long and warm which provided extra sunny days to perfectly ripened this Cabernet Franc.  As always, the quality work of our amazing vineyard partners set the stage for incredible wines to be made.

Tasting Notes
Dark and perfumed, this Cabernet Franc has both floral and spicy aromas. Full-bodied with red plums and ripe figs taking center stage. This wine is smooth, with dusty tannins and tobacco leaf details in the finish.
